Cultura's brief was to deliver a beautiful landscaped garden oasis to this prestigious collection of high-end apartments.
A high quality and exacting commercial soft landscaping installation which included the planting of nearly 200 silver birch trees, 7,000 shrubs and perennials (geraniums, ivy etc), 34,000 bulbs and imported more than 3,500 cubic tonnes of topsoil/subsoil and 200 tonnes of specialist rootzone.
The biggest challenge for this project was logistical; with only one entrance and egress to and from the site, shared by all sub-contractors (groundworkers, electricians, fountain installers etc), co-ordination and collaboration was of the highest importance.
Particularly onerous was the Cultura Paddington Gardens Team's working with the groundworkers. The scheme was installed in a sectional manner into what was a circular courtyard, with each section requiring completion before progressing to the next. The works by Cultura immediately followed that of the groundworkers, who firstly installed the geosystem, which was weight sensitive. This led to Cultura forming the mounds and bunds of the amphitheatre by hand, as the geosystem was unable to withstand the weight of machinery. The logistics also meant that the team had to work backwards from the top corner of the site out toward the only exit.
